FALL 2025-2026 TRAVEL TRYOUTS

Travel tryouts will be held at the Haymarket Iceplex.  The tryout fee is $100.  Walk-ins will not be accepted.  Registration for tryouts will require the 2024-2025 USA Hockey Registration.

There is a mandatory parent meeting that at least one parent of each player should attend.  All goalies should attend the goalie tryout.  This tryout will be conducted and evaluated by Paddle Down Goaltending.  Goalies should also attend the other sessions for their age level.

TRAVEL SEASON DEPOSIT

The Piedmont Hockey Club welcomes players that want to play for our program.  However, we have no interest in conducting a tryout and evaluating players that then choose to play elsewhere.  If you don’t intend to play for Piedmont, don’t try out here.  Entering, and then withdrawing, from the selection process can adversely affect the placement of other players.  Therefore, upon tryout registration, all players must pay the tryout fee and a travel season fee deposit of $500.  The tryout fee is non-refundable.  If a player is selected for any Piedmont Predator travel team, the $500 travel season fee deposit is applied to season fees and is non-refundable, regardless of possible dissatisfaction with team placement.  Declining placement on a selected team does not entitle a player to a refund.  Players declining placement on a team will forfeit the $500 travel season fee deposit.  Players that are not selected to a team will be refunded the $500 travel season fee deposit.

Shortly after the announcement of team selections, a team meeting will be scheduled.  At this meeting, parents will be required to submit all paperwork, including a signed season contract, and make season payment, or payment arrangements.

*Uniforms, tournament fees, and miscellaneous team expenses are not included.

Tryout Process for 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U Youth Teams

First Tryout Session for Each Age Level (goalie tryout for goalies)

• Goalies should arrive 1 hour prior to the goalie tryout session in order to pick up a tryout jersey.  The mandatory parent meeting and jersey pick up are scheduled for the same time and will be conducted upstairs at the rink.  First, players will check in and secure their tryout jersey.  The parent meeting will take place immediately following jersey pick up.
• Teams will be announced within 48 hours of the last tryout session.
• Shortly after the announcement of team selections, a team meeting will be scheduled.  At this meeting, parents will be required to submit all paperwork, including a signed season contract, and make season payment, or payment arrangements.

Tryout Process for 18U and 16U Youth Teams

First Tryout Session for Each Age Level (goalie tryout for goalies)

• Goalies should arrive 1 hour prior to the goalie tryout session in order to pick up a tryout jersey.  The mandatory parent meeting and jersey pick up are scheduled for the same time and will be conducted upstairs at the rink.  First, players will check in and secure their tryout jersey.  The parent meeting will take place immediately following jersey pick up.
• Team selections for Sky teams will be announced within 48 hours of the last tryout session.
• Players not selected to 18U Sky or 16U Sky will be invited to a supplemental tryout session, TBA, for consideration to be placed on a Navy (second) team.  If a player does not wish to be considered for the Navy team, an email stating so must be received within 24 hours of the team announcement.  Players who decline potential placement on 18U Navy or 16U Navy will be refunded their $500 deposit.  For players who attend the third tryout session, teams will be announced within 48 hours after the supplemental tryout.  Players not selected will be refunded their $500 deposit.

GOALIE TRAINING

Piedmont offers the best goalie training program in the area! We will continue to use Nick Thompson and Paddle Down Goaltending. This season, we will use a combination of goalie mini-camps and goalie clinics. In addition, a goalie coach will attend a weekly practice to train our goalies at 10U, 12U, and 14U. Each goalie will be given an allowance of $500 from the club to secure private or semi-private goalie training sessions from Paddle Down Goaltending. Every full time goalie will also receive a $500 discount on season fees (8U goalies do not receive $500 discount).

Season fees include practices, regular season and exhibition games, practice jersey, head coach stipend.

Uniforms, tournament fees, non-parent head coach travel expenses and hotel, off-ice training, and miscellaneous team expenses are not included.
