The Piedmont Hockey Club is thrilled to announce the addition of Tatjana “Tiki” Tikhonov as our program’s new Director of Girl’s Hockey. Coach Tiki joined the Predators in the fall of 2022 as Head Coach of our 16U AA Girl’s team, where she led them to much success, great development, and a runner-up CBHL 19U/16U Silver division.
Prior to joining Piedmont, Coach Tiki was the Girl’s Hockey Director for the Lady Blue Devils in Livermore, CA where she was the head coach for both the 19AA and 14AA teams. Both of those teams made it to the district playoffs in Alaska for the first time in program history, and the 14AA team advanced to Nationals, also a first for the program. For the 2020-21 season, Tiki coached the San Jose Sharks 16AAA team, while also serving a practical year with Cathy Andrade of Extra Hour Training. Tiki began her coaching career with the Santa Clara Blackhawks (California) in 1998. She has led many female hockey initiatives, camps, and clinics, as well as teaches private lessons.
Prior to coaching, Tiki played youth hockey for the Santa Clara Valley Blackhawks before playing professionally in Finland and Switzerland.
If you’re thinking the name Tikhonov sounds familiar, you’re right. Coach Tiki’s grandfather was legendary Russian Coach Viktor Tikhonov. Viktor led the Soviet team to 8 World Champion Gold Medals, 3 Olympic Gold Medals, among many other successes, and was inducted into the International Ice Hockey Federation in 1998. Tiki’s father, Vasili Tikhonov, had a strong resume of his own, coaching in the NHL and the AHL, as well as internationally. Tiki’s brother, Viktor, has played in the Olympics, internationally, and had a long professional career, in the NHL, AHL, and KHL.
The Piedmont Hockey Club is looking for great things from Coach Tiki!
