January

Good thing our team had a restful December because January was packed full of great hockey.  The team started the month with a tie against a tough Montgomery team and ended the month right about .500.  There were a number of ups and downs during the month with convincing wins, hard losses, and some very tight contests.  We continue to see great play from all of our players with a number of kids stepping up while others are out and still others playing through injury and sickness.   While we didn’t bring home any banners from the Pittsburgh tournament the boys had fun in other ways; just being 10 year olds.

December

December was a light game month for our team with only 3 games played outside the Thanksgiving tournament.   All 3 were tough losses to the AA league leaders.   December did bring a super fun Holiday team get together and T-shirt exchange.  The players had a great time simply being teammates and showing off their new digs.

November

November was a packed month for the Squirt Sky team playing 11 games; finishing well above .500 thanks to convincing wins in the Silver Sticks tournament.   The team posted 3 shutouts and outscored their opponents 33 – 6 with well over half the team registering a goal.   After a strong win in the semi-finals the team fell just shy in the Championship game leaving as tournament runner up.   With a field of 16 teams we are proud of our team’s showing.

October

Our Sky team opened the month with a tough lost against Ashburn.  After being down 5 – 1 after 1 period they fought back and tied the game in the 2nd period and continued scoring back and forth goals with Ashburn.  In the end, they could not pull out the win but showed great fight and commitment to the game.

September

The Squirt Sky team started off the season with solid performances at the Hershey Tournament and in several non-league games.  They quickly adjusted to a new mix of teammates and finished the month with a .500 record.  Most important to note, in this opening month alone 10 of the 11 skaters registered at least a point showing great depth for our team.
