Colin O'Brien, Piedmont Predators Squirt Sky (AA) team goalie, competed in the Washington Capitals’ “Youth Shoot-out”, a competition to determine the best player and the best goalie from the states of Virginia and Maryland.  Each year, a series of mini shoot outs held in Virginia and Maryland culminates in a final "Shoot-Out" held during an intermission of a Capitals game, to determine whether a Virginia or Maryland goalie/shooter team will prevail!  Colin made it to the semi-finals, ultimately facing one other Virginia goalie – both were tied at the end for the equal number of saves made.  For the first time in the history of the competition, the “best” Virginia goalie was determined by one final shot, which sent a Reston goalie on to represent Virginia at the Verizon Center in the December 3rd finals.  In an unfortunate incident however, the Reston goalie, sustained an injury, and Colin was “Called up” by the Caps to represent Virginia!  What a great surprise! On Tuesday, December 3, Colin, and his Virginia shooter teammate , were proudly declared the winners in a great shoot-out flurry!  Way to go Colin!
