The Piedmont Girls 19U team won the annual Ponytail Tournament held in Laurel, MD from 17-19 Mar 2023.  The Preds swept the round robin games with wins against North East HS (7-1), Tri City U16s (4-3), and Tri City 19Us (3-2).  Ella Phillips and Emily Townsend led the way in the first game with two goals each, with Zoie Kyle, Madison Lucas, and Emily Permut adding one each.  Multiple players chipped in with assists, including Autumn Frear (2), Townsend, Permut, Lucas, Hope Dondero, and Kiran Flieg.  In the second game, goals came from Phillips (2), Kocourkova, and Permut, with assists from Frear (2), Kocourkova (2), Anika Degen (2), and Phillips.  In game 3 the Preds were lead by Frear (1G, 2A), Kocourkova (1G, 2A), Phillips (1G), and Zoie Kyle (2A).  In the championship game, the Preds met the Tri City 19U team again.  As with all games against Tri City, the game was close, but the Preds prevailed 3-1.  Permut opened up the scoring on an assist from Frear, and Frear scored the final two goals, with Permut and Arianna Evans picking up assists.  Goalies Maggie Cowden and Liz Moller each won two games over the weekend.
