2001 goalie, Dominic Basse (6’6”, 185 lb) from Alexandria, VA was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2019 NHL draft this June.  The Blackhawks used their 6th round, 167 pick overall to select the standout goaltender.

Basse played for the Piedmont Predators 14U AA team for the 2014-2015 season, where he sported a .916 save percentage and 2.24 goals against average.  Since playing for the Predators, Basse has gone on to play for Team Maryland, Gonzaga College High School, and Selects Academy Hockey where he backstopped the national champion 18U team.

Basse will play the 2019-2020 season with the Youngstown Phantoms of the United States Hockey League (USHL).  The following season he plans to join Colorado College, Division I, of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC).

Ron Evans, who coached the Predator team Basse played for, had this to say: “We were fortunate to have Dom play for us that season.  He has the size and skill to play at a high level.  And even at 13 years old, you could tell he had something else. It’s not surprising was he’s accomplished.  We wish him the best of luck, and Dom, we’ll be watching you.”
